Nathan Kurland, a resident of Coconut Grove, Florida, joined the Citizens for a Scenic Florida board in 2013.
Mr. Kurland’s career is a virtual prism of communication diversity. He has taught Rhetoric and Public Address at Temple University and the Free School of the University of Pennsylvania, and is presently an Adjunct Professor of Public Speaking at Florida International University. Mr. Kurland has been a proud member of Actor’s Equity since 1969 and has performed in over fifty professional plays and musicals. From 2004-06, Mr. Kurland offered his services to the Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections training poll workers.
Public service has been an integral part of Mr. Kurland’s life since moving to Florida (from Philadelphia) in 2004. Presently, Mr. Kurland serves as the Chairman of the Miami Bayside Foundation, as well as a board member for the Bayfront Park Management Trust, the Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority, the Coconut Grove Arts Festival and several other organizations. He is also an active and vocal member of Scenic Miami. When he is not teaching, Mr. Kurland can often be seen at Miami City Hall during Commission meetings advocating for the quality of life issues embodied by Scenic Miami, Citizens for a Scenic Florida and Scenic America.
