Retired founder of Native and Uncommon Plants, a retail native plant nursery opened in 2001 that sells trees, shrubs and perennials indigenous to Northeast Florida, Leslie’s avocation is scenic beautification and environmental preservation. She has been on the board of Greenscape, North Florida’s premier nonprofit tree-planting organization, currently on the Board of Scenic Florida and is a member of the Late Bloomers Garden Club, a member of The Garden Club of America. Leslie is very active in working to influence legislation that favors the environment and protecting plants. She was also involved in the campaign to include the St. Johns River in the American Heritage River program and sits on the St. Johns Riverkeeper and Scenic Jacksonville’s Advisory Committees.
Leslie received her bachelor degrees in math and chemistry, been married for almost 40 years with a son & daughter, plays golf, has an Australian Shepherd named Loonie and a log cabin in Nova Scotia, where she lives almost 5 months a year.
