Mrs. Mathson has served as JayCee President, A.G.L.O.W. President, and as Chairperson for Public Relations of the National Farmers Organization (District 9). She was also selected to serve on the Minnesota Agricultural Policy Commission, the Florida Accountability Goals 2000 committee, and the State of Florida Plant Survey Team.
Mrs. Mathson is a semi-retired high school/college instructor. She received her B.S. degree (in Art and Business Education) from Moorhead State University in Minnesota where she was active in the Psi Delta Kappa and the Student Union Planning Board.

Following her settling on the Emerald Coast of Florida, she became concerned about the continuing loss of scenic beauty and damage to the natural environment in Florida. Her concerns became sharply focused following the springing up of behemoth-sized billboards along State Highway 98.
She and her husband Richard currently reside in Panama City Beach.
