Owner of Native and Uncommon Plants, a retail native plant nursery that sells trees, shrubs and perennials indigenous to Northeast Florida, Leslie's avocation is scenic beautification and environmental preservation. She is on the board of Greenscape of Jacksonville, Inc, North Florida's premier nonprofit tree-planting organization, and is a member of the Late Bloomers Garden Club, a member of The Garden Club of America. She has also served on the Conservation Committee and the National Affairs and Legislation Committee of The Garden Club of America. Leslie is very active in working to influence legislation that favors the environment, through The Garden Club of America in Florida, and independently. She was also involved in the campaign to include the St. Johns River in the American Heritage River program. She further supports the St. Johns by doing programs with the WAV aspect of the St. Johns Water Management Department.
Leslie received her bachelor degrees in math and chemistry.
